Last week at Get to the Next Level in Marketing, an event by Young Women in Digital, we heard from four speakers about their careers and tips for success in digital marketing. Aside from the great job advice (like finding your kooky skill and making a career out of it), the insights into which digital tools the speakers raved about really stuck with me. Here's a collection of their suggestions, plus some of my own!
Simply put, Quora is a dynamite source to hear advice on any topic. Just search for a question or topic and browse responses written by anyone from CEOs to students. Plus, Quora sends newsletters highlighting some amazing discussions on their site, like What is the most amazing photograph you have ever taken? so you won't miss out!
With a killer combo of bookmarking and social sharing, Springpad is a great way to collect your favorite sites and share with your favorite people. But it goes beyond just social bookmarking, it helps you get all the info you need about a given topic. So, if you save a recipe, Springpad will hit you with a shopping list and even find some local deals. Sounds good to me!
I recently jumped aboard the Buffer train and love it. It's a very simple way to organize posts across your social channels and see key metrics. Add the Buffer widget to your browser and click when there's something you like to share; you'll have the option to share immediately or add to your Buffer, a set schedule of posting times that you control. On weekends, I like to spend time catching up on marketing articles from the week and adding them to my Buffer to tweet out the next week.
4. Save Publishing
Sometimes coming up with the appropriate balance of intellect and wit for a tweet is challenging. If you're not sure what to tweet about an article, use the Save Publishing widget to find the most tweetable sentence on the page. Just click save the Save Publishing widget to your bookmarks bar and click when you need a little extra help coming up with your next tweet.
If you're managing a digital marketing campaign or working with a team on a project, there's no better way to do it than Trello. Our team at Boundless is Trello-obsessed, and for good reason! It's like a sophisticated to-do list that lets team members collaborate, swap docs, and track project progress.
